HUNTSVILLE, AL -- Phuket owner Suwit Phornroekngam told The Times the raw details about what makes the Thai restaurant's sushi so tasty.
"The key is freshness," Phornroekngam said.
That means fresh seafood, fresh vegetables and fresh rice. At Phuket, Phornroekngam explained, leftover fish, vegetables and rice aren't re-used the following day. And it's that dedication to freshness and quality that helped Phuket take the top spot in The Times' Readers Choice Poll for Best Sushi.
Phornroekngam and his wife Tukky opened Phuket in the Village of Providence in February 2006. The couple's from Thailand, lived in Atlanta for a number of years and decided to open a restaurant in Huntsville.
"It was my wife's dream" to open a restaurant, Phornroekngam said.
